We live in time, when we have to save the energy, it means not to make any irrelevant movements, and to work together in a right direction and together strive for the victory. It is very important to support and develop the culture, as when there is no culture, there is no country.
Said the Ukrainian musician, civil active and the leader of the band «Mandry» Sergii Fomenko («FOMA») during the Art club «Faces», organized by Arsenii Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation, Kyiv, February 26.
«That is very important to support culture and in general to make culture in different directions. You know, I really like the statement, that once said Churchill: «If we wouldn’t donate into culture and wouldn’t be engaged with culture, so why we need this war». As if the country, state or national doesn’t have the culture, if there is not development, you can be sure - that there is no country», said the musician.
He is convinced, that the state has to donate into development of institutions, that support culture, it has to be the serious attitude towards culture. We have to have cultural events, exhibitions, museums. «All that give the opportunity to feel, think, create the conceptions and communicate», - stressed the artist.
He explained, that during the last year he started to be more engaged in the development and progression of Ukrainian culture abroad.
«First significant event, where I participate - international project «Maidan. Ukraine. The way to independence». All this complicated and horrible time on Maidan we were together and strived against dictatorship the representatives that have absolutely different positions, nationalities, social groups from all, without any exceptions, regions of Ukraine. Very active participants of these events were Ukrainian artists, musicians, producers, movie operators, poets, photographers and journalists. Exactly their vision, documental evidences and the point of view are evident in the project «Maidan. Ukraine. The way to independence». The artists Matvii Vaisberg, Maksym Donyuk, Anton Trofimov, Ihor Gaiudai, Oleksandt Gliadelov, Oleksiy Sai, Mykola Goncharov, Oleg Denysenko took part in the project, music of folk-rock band «Mandry», - said Sergii Fomenko.
During the meeting Foma has shown the pieces of the own films «Maidan. Ukraine. The way to independence», «Kyiv which is disappearing», «Taras mountain» and performed several new compositions, that were created after Maidan.
«Despite such complicated situation, that is present in our country, we all understand, that we have to find time for culture - in order to draw the inspiration, strength and belief for helping those who defend us. Even today the meeting with Sergii Fomenko is not occasional. We invited the person, who supported and is still supporting now the fight of participants of the Revolution of Dignity and the soldiers, which are in the ATO zone», - stressed the Head of the Supervisory Council of Open Ukraine Foundation Tereziya Yatsenyuk.
