Artistic Curatorial Project of media artist and curator Dmytro Honcharenko «I:O-Koktebel Art Residence» was founded in 2013 and was successfully held in May and September of 2013 in House-Museum of Maximillian Voloshyn in Koktebel, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The project aims at the development of modern art in traditional museum spaces and integration of such museum institutions into the world process of contemporary art. At two editions of art residency in the Crimea the project hosted artists, performers, graphics, sculptors, cultural theoreticians from Ukraine, Germany, Russia, Turkey, the Great Britain etc.
Implementation of the project in 2014 became questionable now as a result of March events in Crimea and occupation by the Russian Federation of the Ukrainian territory. This year during the project residency 20 projects have been implemented by artists from Ukraine, Germany, the U.S.A., Turkey, Russia, India, Iran, Israel. Within two weeks the artists worked on their artistic projects, among them - painting, graphics, installations, audiovisual performance, sculpture, sound art, photo, lomography, video art.
In cooperation with the Association of Culture and Solidarity of the city of Bahçecik the cultural program was prepared for participants: acquaintance with local community and cultural activists in the region, tours to distinguished places of the region: city of Izmit, natural landscapes, cultural centres etc., visiting traditional Turkish wedding, discussing strategies of development of projects and cultural activity in the region next year and so on.
