“Ukraine will leave this crisis with more strength, while Russia will find itself in a new isolation”, – Karsten VOIGT

“Ukraine will leave this crisis with more strength, while Russia will find itself in a new isolation”, said Karsten VOIGT, a German politician, during the Open World Discussion Club meeting held in Dnipropetrovsk on September 9, initiated by Arsenii Yatseniuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation, in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Students Republic.

The former Bundestag member described the Germany’s position in this situation as follows: “Collaboration and cooperation to the extent possible, sanctions and pressure to the extent necessary”. He also underscored that Europe will never agree to make decisions regarding Ukraine without involvement of Ukraine itself. “The West often reacts too late due to the democracy. At the same time, the support for Ukraine in the world is enormous”, he said.

Karsten VOIGT pointed out that “the current ceasefire does not mean an end of the conflict, but gives a chance for reforms, implementation of the EU Association Agreement, and elections”.
