Also, as a programme director of Kyiv International Short Film Festival (www.kisff.org), Natalia Ilchuk used the trip as an opportunity to watch the films for selecting and screening them in Ukraine in the future with participation of invited authors.
«For me the trip to The Northern Wave International Film Festival is an opportunity to exchange experience with colleagues from all over the world, this is an excellent chance to find out more about Icelandic cinematography, share knowledge about Ukrainian cinema as well as establish partnership connections between the festivals in Kyiv and Iceland» the Ukrainian filmmaker commented on her participation in the festival.
The Northern Wave seeks revival of the cinematograph as a form of art and recognition of a director as the author. The Festival’s objective is to develop relations between experienced and young filmmakers from Iceland and all over the world. This is the visionary festival that honours artistic innovative films by directors who are not afraid to take risk. This year 91 films were screened at different programme’s sections as part of The Northern Wave Festival.
It’s important to note that for the fifth year in a row already Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation has been running the Cultural Horizons Programme aimed at promoting Ukrainian culture abroad and integrating Ukrainian art into the global context.
