„When last year I started travelling with presentation of my book, there was no such definition as a ‘techno-thriller’ in Ukrainian language. The founding father of this genre is Michael Crichton, the author of “Jurassic Park”. So unfortunately that since his death 2008 the world literature produced no single techno-thriller of high quality. So, I decided that two left after-graduate schools and my extensive travelling experience provide me with the opportunity to create books of this style at more-less serious level”, said Maksym, speaking about his latest book ‘BOT’, which is the first Ukrainian techno-thriller.
During the second part of the evening’s meeting Maksym Kidruk talked with guests of ‘FACES’ Artistic Club about the importance of commercialization of contemporary Ukrainian literature. He explained why we have to pay for a book and why Steven King has refused to publish his works as e-books.
‘FACES’ Artistic Club, launched by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk ‘Open Ukraine’ Foundation in partnership with ‘Chasopys’ Creative Space, is a platform for communication and exchange of experience among Ukrainian and foreign writers, musicians, artists, designers, directors, photographers and other representative of the culture.
