The Art Club Faces with Maksym KIDRUK: how was written techno-thriller Bot or finding new niches in modern Ukrainian literature

16 May 2013, 11:14

24th May at 19.00 in the creative space Chasopys Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation starts another meeting of the Art Club Faces. This time, the guest will be traveler and writer Maksym KIDRUK. The author of the first in Ukraine techno-thriller Bot will tell why commercialization of the book is important, why there are still no “millionaires” like King or Brian Patterson in Ukraine and why it is important to find new niches in modern Ukrainian literature.

Maksym KIDRUK – a young Ukrainian writer, traveler, electrical engineer by profession. Wrote 11 books (seven are fiction, four — on technical subjects) and visited about 30 countries, including Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, China, Brazil, New Zealand, Chile, Angola, Namibia, Easter Island and other.

On his world travels KIDRUK wrote The Mexican Chronicles. Story of a Dream (won the second award in the competition The Coronation of the Word in 2009), Journey to the Navel of the World, Screwballs in Peru, Screwballs in Mexico and Love and Piranhas. The newest book of the author is Bot.

Bot is the first Ukrainian techno-thriller, action novel, which combines modern technology, human psychology and pure Hollywood “action.” The events in the book are fictional, but the rest — places, natural objects, equipment, weapons, physiological characteristics of living organisms, etc., is real. Masterful description of the technical details makes the novel incredibly realistic.
While working on the novel the author was consulted by the chemistry PhD, doctor, physiologist and psychiatrist. All the technologies described in the novel really exist. To understand them, the writer worked out over a hundred scientific articles dealing with nanotechnology, microbiology and human brain.
