Annual international event “Kyiv Security Forum” established by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation in 2007 is the platform for discussing security issues in Europe and the Black Sea Region. The purpose of the Forum is to enhance security cooperation between the European Union and the Black Sea Region, raising awareness about development of security among key players, strengthening of independent and non-governmental actors in solving security problems in Europe.
To participate in the contest, please, write a short essay on the topic “Security in the Insecure World”. There is necessary to explore in your essay a problem of security, which in your opinion is the most important in the world today, and to offer an option for its solution.
Senior undergraduate students, graduate students, junior researchers, and representatives of international, youth and non-governmental organizations under the age of 35, who are interested in the issues of international relations and foreign policy, international security and related humanitarian subjects are invited to participate in the contest.
Requirements: symbol count – up to 6000 characters (including spaces). Criteria – clarity, logic of the presentation, originality of the approach. One participant can choose only one topic and be the author of only one essay.
Winners of the contest will have the opportunity to participate in the 6th Kyiv Security Forum, which will take place in April 2013 in Kyiv. The essays of the winners will also be included to the final Forum materials and will be distributed among the expert community.
Organizers will partially cover travel costs and accommodation for contest winners for their participation at the Forum. More details about participation and the results of the contest will be announced to the participants additionally.
Essays must be sent to the email address [email protected] (subject “Essay Contest”). It is also obligatorily for every contest participant to fill out the registration form.
The deadline for essays submission is March 17th, 2013. The results of the essay contest will be announced after April 1st, 2013.

On the eve of the 6th Kyiv Security Forum the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation launches essay contest for youth. Winners will be invited to participate in this year's Forum, which will be held on April 18-19, 2013 in Kyiv and will be devoted to the topic “Security in the Insecure World”.
