The word «Ukraine» unites many of us, but there are also many people in the world who can ask: «Where is it?»
Was it always so? What did «Ukraine» mean at different times? With what (whom) it was associated? Why did it happen that once known in Europe «land of Cossacks» was lost between worlds and empires? How to ensure the sound of the word «Ukraine» in the rough and not always friendly to us the world?
Political analyst Evgen Magda and historian Tatiana Vodotyka will try to answer these questions during the Discussion Club «Open World» organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation.
Lecturers will tell how the perception of Ukraine changed in different historical periods, explain through the prism of what stereotypes Ukrainians are perceived, and why they need to be changed. And, the most important, what image of Ukraine can replace the established imaginations about our country that now exist in the world.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, November 10th, at 19:00 in INVERIA creative space (Kyiv, Volodymyrska str., 49a).
